Greg’s Story

I was a very sexual person from the start. Upon entering puberty, I started educating myself about sex. I'd discovered my mother’s stash of adult books and magazines, including “The Joy of Sex” and Penthouse Forum. As a pre-teen, I even engaged in some experimental sex play with both my godsister and a first cousin. However, as a rather shy adolescent, I didn’t lose my virginity until I was nearly 18.

My curiosity about sex led me to sneaking into adult stores while I was still in high school. During one such visit, I discovered a section of swinger contact magazines. I bought a few, and I was intrigued by the idea of hooking up with like-minded individuals for uncomplicated, recreational sex. Through one of these magazines, I eventually met up with a 40-something couple during my junior year in college. I served as the wife’s boy-toy for several months.

During this same period, I also started experimenting with my college girlfriend. She turned out to be just as sexual as I was, so she was willing to experiment. We never visited a swing club or swapped with another couple, but we did engage in a handful of threesomes with other men.

My first couple-to-couple experience didn’t happen until 1991 with my first post-college girlfriend. We hooked up with a couple we met through an ad in an alternative newspaper rather than in your standard swinger’s magazine. Believe it or not, this couple eventually moved in with us, but that didn’t last long due to some severe personality differences.

Next in line was my common-law wife. We stayed together for more than six years, but although she was open to swinging, we had a great deal of difficulty finding couples we could play with. Being overweight, she was very distrustful of other women who were smaller than she was. Thus, most of our experiences were threesomes with single men. However, thanks to an ad in a popular contact magazine, we did share a pleasant lunch with a nice, suburban couple in 1995, and the wife’s name happened to be Sheryl.

Sheryl’s Story

Even though he earned a good living, my father was a bit of a tightwad as I was growing up, so my teenage years were rather uneventful. While I did do a little girl/girl play with a schoolmate of mine, I didn’t have much of a social life back then.

However, at about the time I was finishing high school in 1973, a girlfriend of mine and I started dating these two guys who were drug dealers. That began my indoctrination into the entire “sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll” lifestyle. Even though I never used condoms back in those days, I was fortunate enough to not get pregnant or acquire a case of VD.

I dated around quite a bit for most of my young adulthood, but still found the time to get married and divorced twice before I was 35. Like many young women of my generation, I enjoyed sleeping with a number of men I picked up at my favorite disco, but the idea of becoming a formal swinger never crossed my mind. However, I wasn’t a stranger to using vanilla personal ads as a way of meeting men. That’s how I met my third husband in 1990.

Husband #3 was a well-educated professional who earned a fair amount of money, so we were privileged to go on exotic vacations once or twice a year. One year, I decided I wanted to go to Jamaica, so I did some research and discovered a resort called Hedonism II [1].

I chose that resort simply because I liked the amenities, but little did I know that it was actually a popular swinger’s resort. When we saw all of those couples having such a great time, we decided we wanted to be a part of the action.

For the remainder of the 1990s, we became one of the most active lifestyle couples in Colorado. We started attending the annual Lifestyles Convention [2] and became a part of the convention “Care Team” to assist with the day-to-day operations of the event.

We also joined two local swing clubs. One was an off-premise club where we served on the board of directors; the other was an on-premise club where we occasionally did the catering for special events.

Our house was perfect for entertaining, so we started hosting lifestyle parties at our home. Never shy about our involvement in the lifestyle, we volunteered to appear in a swinging documentary called “The Lifestyle: Swinging in America [3],” and the crew actually came to our house to film one of our parties.

Another thing we did was advertise for playmates in several contact magazines published by the now-defunct Sundance Associates. We enjoyed taking photos featuring either public nudity or explicit sex, so several of those pictures were included in each of our ads. In 1995, this caught the attention of a friendly urban couple, so we scheduled a lunch date with them. The husband’s name happened to be Greg.

Our Story

Although we enjoyed that meeting in 1995, we never got around to scheduling a play date. However, after splitting with his common-law wife, Greg showed up at one of Sheryl’s house parties in 1998.

We continued to stay in touch after exchanging e-mail addresses and phone numbers. At one point, Greg was dating a lovely Hispanic lady and he brought her to one of Sheryl’s parties. It was then that the two of us finally had sex with one another, and Sheryl’s husband got to play with Greg’s girlfriend, too.

Unfortunately, by early 2001 Sheryl was no longer happy with her marriage. Although her husband was neither abusive nor neglectful, he had several personality characteristics that drove her nuts. She regarded Greg as a good friend, so she gave him a phone call to let him know she was getting ready to move out, although she had no idea where she was going to go. Greg was living alone in a downtown, one-bedroom apartment, so he offered to let Sheryl stay with him until she could get a place of her own.

Sheryl applied for a number of apartments, but she had no rental history because she had lived in her husband’s house for nearly a decade, so no place would accept her. About a month after she had moved in with Greg, a unit became available one floor above Greg’s apartment, so Sheryl applied for that. The management company agreed to rent to her if Greg would co-sign, which he willingly did, making us neighbors.

Both of us were already practicing swingers, so it was only natural for us the start going to lifestyle events together. But several weeks after Sheryl got her own apartment, we realized that Greg was spending more time at Sheryl’s place than at his own. Somewhere along the line, we started acting like boyfriend and girlfriend, so Greg ended the lease to his place and moved in with Sheryl. Later that summer, we attended our first Lifestyles Convention together, which kept intact Sheryl’s streak for attending every convention since 1992.

Sheryl’s divorce became final in 2002, which freed us up to get married in December of that year. Today, we host our own parties, have our own website, run our own blog [4], and still attend the Lifestyles Convention every summer.

Better yet, we have a wonderful circle of swinging friends that we love dearly. While our trip through the lifestyle has been an unusual one, we hope that every swinging couple can be as happy as we are.
