When I first became aware of LSD it was through drug education in school 1966. It was not yet on the prohibited list. Being naturally inquisitive, after reading a bit about Albert Hofmann, I soon found myself stepping up to a hit of the legendary "purple micro dot." Unlike what I was told by my supplier I did the whole thing. He had suggested strongly that I cut it into quarters. I could barely see the tiny tab.
I “dropped” it as I turned to walk home. By the time I had come home about a half hour later, I had forgotten that I had done it. This was the calm before the storm, normal to every trip I’ve done since.
I put my brother’s new Jimi Hendrix album "Electric Lady Land" on his desktop old fashioned record player. I felt bushed and laid my head down on my forearm on the desk beside the record player.
As the music came on, I found myself inside the grill cloth of the record player, walking amongst the tall tubes glowing. When I realized that this was a hallucination I sat up with a start. My arms were miles long, like thin spaghetti. I went to talk and giggle with my brother whose freckled face blended into the textured wall he sat against, so all I could see were two eyes framed in his Lennon glasses. He was playing his guitar as usual.
I walked downstairs to watch some TV before dinner (how could I eat?) The Vietnam War and its gruesome news intruded into Mr. Hofmann’s magic. Thankfully I left and went on the most incredible journey of my life up until that time.
Upon reading a posting entitled "The Illusion Of Conclusion," I must add this caution to those who might consider these posts casual invitations to "take a trip":DON'T!!! Leave it to an Oracle. I've done LSD for sure more than 150 times, and never yet have I landed in this reality the same as I when I took the hit.
It actually does open a new door of perception every time, some of which you might regret having been opened. I've never yet returned the same as when I left. Honest! Those doors of perception remain ajar forever.
Although I experimented with many diversions when I was younger (and still do), thereby developing many bad habits (some of which I haven't yet shaken), I don't actually recommend this route for those not ready for it. Besides, unless you are intelligent, possess a well nourished mind for LSD to work on, all that will happen is that you'll become extremely confused. You might actually think/believe that you can fly when the circumstances warrant caution, honest..
These kind of things should really be left up to an Oracle, or those crazy introspective adventurers who don't mind change delivered in a Russian Roulette fashion. LSD should be treated in experimentation, as if doing a sacred sacrament, not some yahoo fun fest. A few initial supervised settings should be experienced. I've always come with a learning attitude to it. (I'd love to give people an LSD enhanced walking/biking tour here in Vancouver) LSD should never denied to those who approach it in a serious, responsible way. A guided journey type of thing until your develop the skills to fly solo-get your LSD wings- would be part of a controlled setting for this drug. who are these judgmental idiots that claim that LSD is dangerous? More dangerous than the poison they were swallowing in Jonestown?
Funny thing about that last trip I did about a year ago, the USA’s war BS intruded again, as soon as I turned the TV on, 41 years later.
Thanks for the magic Albert Hofmann, may you trip well forever. One day your miracle will be understood by the skeptics, as some of us understand our own perception of it now.
