Inspiration

Recently i was inspired by an unlikely source. I was sitting with a friend of mine in class, (technically homeroom) and during the ten minutes we are required to sit there so that the teacher can take attendance I did something I do rather frequently and flipped through the many wonderful illustrations in her sketchbook. As always i was in awe of her work, animals melding with people and mixing with costuming that would make any designer jealous, and after looking at them all I had to say something. With mock irritation i told her that she was irritating me by making me want to draw even though i have neither talent nor skill. She wasn't effected by this, and told me to draw something anyway and handed me her sketchbook, open to a blank page. I tried, but every mark i left on that clean sheet seemed warped and misplaced. Aftr a few minutes of frustration the bell rang and I erased my meager attempt with embarrasment.

Maybe its the aries in me, maybe its my drive to create, maybe it was what I had for breakfast, however i prefer to think i was touched by something a bit more divine. Inspiration. I sat in my next class and decided that i would draw something for her, and damn it, it would be good. I whipped out a sheet of computer paper and set to work. At the end of the school day I finished drawing and really looked at what I had made. It was good. It was really good. I am by no strech of the imagination a great artist, but that drawing was the best thing I have ever created with a paper and pencil.

I doubt I will ever be able to do it again but its a start. This is my call to the human mind, Our minds, to create. Sans the fear. To touch the divinity of inspiration. Since you never know, it might just be good.

Really good

You should read "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho.

I used to be really bad at photography. I mean...really really bad. I started going around and taking photos (thanks to Orato.com) and over time, I've watched myself progress from a horrible photographer to an okay photographer to a photographer that can now sell their own works. From the photography realm, I found that I could turn my work into artwork (which has been getting a lot of attention lately).

Never believe that you can't do something or you don't have the talent. It takes practice and inspiration. Like in "The Alchemist" you end up finding your path in life doing something you never dreamed of doing. When you feel that inner connection or that bond with something you've done, life all of a sudden takes a turn and you start to see the world a little differently. The world just becomes more beautiful.
