Hope For Africa

As an African in America these are my observations of what is happening in my homeland. I could only see these because my perspective had changed and I am now on the outside looking in and it is only then that I was able to fully understand the situation in Africa.

Africa, my continent, my home, my life.
Africa, my people, my family, my friend.
Africa, my beginning and my end.
A place teeming with life and happiness.
A continent full of resources and riches
Rivers flow with gold
Mountains rich with minerals
Hills and Valleys covered with tropical forests
Plains rich with wildlife

Surely we are a blessed continent.

But why?
Africa with all these resources
Africa with all these riches
Africa with all this life
Animosity still prevails.
People loot, kill, fight and destroy.
We have it all now, but we lose it all the next second.
We have everything but we gain nothing.

Why? Why Africa?

My continent, my country.
My father, my mother.
My brother, my sister.
My friend, my enemy.
What is wrong?
Why do we live such lives?
Why are we the only ones killing each other?
Why are we the only poor continent?

Peace, where did you go peace?

Why? Why Africa? Why?

I turn on the T.V, the radio, the internet what do they all say?
Africa my continent is burning and dying, bloodshed everywhere.
Africa mourns, groans, cries.
Africa hurts, pains, suffers.
Africa seeks, asks and waits.

Will there ever be HOPE?
I hope yes,
But I don’t know?

Why? Why Africa? Why?

Ah! I see it now; there is something behind all these.
Something that cripples us.
Something that eats us.
Something that destroys us.
Something that kills us.
For days, months and years.

IGNORANCE, it caused it all.
Then POVERTY & DISEASES came after.
HOPELESSNESS followed later, then what?
The killer of the whole face of Africa.
Yes! Nothing else but WAR, CRIME & INSECURITY.

Why? Why Africa? Why has nothing been done?

Something has been done to poverty and diseases,
We have: Aid, Food programs, IMF & AIDS victim support.
Something has been done to the hopelessness,
We have different religions encouraging people to give them hope.
Something has been done to war, crime & insecurity,
We have the UN & the international mediators.

Yeah! Then all is great.
All has been taken cared off.
At least something has been done.
But has everything gone?

Wow, wow, wow! Hold up! W hat about the root cause IGNORANCE.
Nothing has been done to it; no one has paid attention to it.
Ah! Now that’s the problem,
No solution to ignorance no solution to Africa.
No solution to ignorance no Life in Africa.
No solution to ignorance no HOPE in Africa.
Everyone has paid attention to the fruits,
But still the main root cause is there.

EDUCATION is the ultimate solution to ignorance.

Education?

Education is everywhere in Africa from the rural areas to the big cities.
Education has been there since the beginning.
Education covers the whole face of Africa.
From Cape Town to Alexandria.

Then, how come Africa is still how Africa is?
How come we are still poor?
How come we have no hope?
How come we have no peace?
Education it there but there is limited or no GOOD QUALITY EDUCATION.

Good quality education for all.
Good quality education for all nations.
Good quality education for all tribes.
Good quality education for both genders.
Good quality education for both the rich and the poor.

Good quality education to make us equal.
Good quality education to improve us.
Good quality education to feed us.
Good quality education to sustain us.
Good quality education to save us.

Then at last we will have:

KNOWLEDGE instead of ignorance.
WEALTH & HEALTH instead of poverty & diseases.
HOPE instead of hopelessness.
And lastly, what every African needs and long for,
PEACE & SECURITY instead of war, crime & insecurity.

Therefore, the ultimate answer to all our troubles and problems in Africa is:
GOOD QUALITY EDUCATION
The HOPE of Africa is GOOD QUALITY EDUCATION.
Americans you can bring HOPE to Africa.

HOPE to all nations.
HOPE to all cities.
HOPE to all societies.
HOPE to all communities.
HOPE to all villages
HOPE to all people
HOPE to all tribes
HOPE to all children
HOPE to everyone, anywhere & anytime.
