The ground-breaking citizen journalism website Orato.com is seeking an intern to produce top-quality editorial content and assist with online marketing.

The ideal candidate for the paid internship will have superior writing skills and an impressive journalistic portfolio.

Your key role will be to support Orato.com’s Community Building Editor, who is responsible for ensuring viral growth and high traffic as well as recruiting and working with citizen correspondents to produce top quality citizen journalism and editorial content. You must be familiar with key online marketing tools including Facebook, MySpace, Youtube, blogs, news aggregator sites and link building. You have experience with Photoshop. Special consideration will be given to those with familiarity with video editing software.

You are a team player with excellent communication skills. You must be able to think “outside the box” and come up with creative and innovative ways to get Orato.com noticed. Preference will be given to candidates with formal training in journalism and/or online marketing and search engine optimization.

The full-time position requires working in downtown Vancouver for six months and based on your performance, there is potential to move to a full-time paid staff position once the internship is completed.
