Geneive Abdo, an author and analyst, was formerly the Liaison for the United Nation's Alliance of Civilizations, a project created by the UN Secretary General to improve relations between Western and Islamic societies. She now works at Washington's The Century Foundation. Her 20+-year long career has centered on Middle East coverage, and her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The Guardian, The Economist and The International Herald Tribune. Abdo was the first American journalist to be based in Tehran since the U.S. cut off ties after the 1979 revolution. She has written a number of books on Islamic issues, and her latest, Mecca & Mainstreet: Muslim Life In America after 9/11 was recently featured on a Christiane Amanpour CNN special, God's Warriors.
