I have described myself as a lifelong Republican who is also an organic-eating, pro-choice, anti-nuclear environmentalist. Yessssss, I realize most people don't believe such people exist. Well, here I am. I believe in personal responsibility and personal freedom above all else.
We are on the cusp of truly historic times here in America where we've just elected our first African-American president. A moment we should all truly be proud of for so many reasons. But we won't have time to rest on that accomplishment alone. Here in the land of opportunity a glass ceiling has been forever broken, but we face many challenges here at home and abroad.
Is our corporatocracy capable of serving the interests of our freedom when neither party in power seems capable of serving anyone other than large financial contributors to their campaigns, like labor unions, religious groups, or wealthy corporations and other special interest groups, etc, etc, etc? Well, with a difference of roughly 6% in the popular vote, all eyes are watching. I guess we'll see.
Like our next president's campaign slogan, I Hope he's able to grow something beautiful and meaningful out of the bag of doodie he'll be handed on January 20, 2009. We're all in this together, humans living in America ... and throughout the world.
