With lavish weddings, sun-kissed holidays and endless rounds of golf now just a distant memory, Premier League players have returned to their clubs to stroll through some friendly matches against lower league clubs or foreign minnows. It's the time to show off new players and new kits, and the first chance for fans to build-up crazy expectations for the new season...

Arsenal 1 Sevilla 1
Arsenal concluded their pre-season preparations with victory in the Amsterdam tournament. A youthful Gunners side took the lead four minutes in against Sevilla when Carlos Vela, one of the stars of pre-season, found the net with a cool and composed finish. Javier Chevanton levelled up for the Spanish side nine minutes from time, but after the Gunners' 3-2 victory over hosts' Ajax on Friday, Wenger's men were comfortable champions in a tournament that awards extra points for every goal scored.

Next game: FC Twente (A) (Champions League) Wednesday 13th August

Manchester City 1 AC Milan 0
Valeri Bojinov made his first appearance at Eastlands since he suffered a season-ending injury there last August and scored the decisive goal as Manchester City beat AC Milan. With one eye on Thursday's UEFA Cup game against FC Midtjylland, Mark Hughes rested Martin Petrov and gave Micah Richards the captain's armband, but it was Bojinov who was the hero of the hour. The Bulgarian striker lashed home a stunning shot that went in off the crossbar eight minutes from half-time to hand the Citizens the perfect warm-up for Thursday's serious action.

Next game: FC Midtjylland (H) (UEFA Cup) Thursday 14th August

Fulham 2 Torino 2
Fulham conceded twice in the final ten minutes as they threw away a two-goal lead against Italian side Torino. The Cottagers had the better of the first half and took the lead twenty minutes in when Bobby Zamora knocked home from inside the area. Zoltan Gera added the second eight minutes later as the Cottagers seemed to be cruising.
