Though I was never sports-oriented as a child, and yes I do regret it, I know that Canada of course is not in the Euro games. "D'oh!" as Homer Simpson would say.
So there very likely won't be much talk about sports here. Not by me anyways. If I knew more about it(any sport) I would comment about the games in whichever sport. But what I want to talk about is the flags I've seen on cars related to the Euro soccer games.
I've seen flags of the various teams people are rooting for. The Italian flag. The Croatian flag. The German flag. The Polish flag. And the flag of other countries. What I haven't seen yet is the Canadian flag alongside it. Not on even one car.
I think anyone in Canada who puts the flag of the country of the soccer team they want to win on their car alongside that flag that person should also place the Canadian flag. Out of respect for a country which has given the individual so many opportunities. Opportunities they wouldn't get elsewhere.
And I'd be willing to bet the majority of the people with a soccer team's flag on their car will not put the Canadian flag on their car this upcoming July 1st, Canada Day. What a shame!

Re: Why No Canadian Flag?
By luyen, June 26, 2008 at 15:05In Canada, everyone is Canadian on the inside, but something else on the outside...that's how it seems to me, i am fiercely Canadian, although i am a second generation immigrant, but I feel no need to display it.
I have never felt like the soccer fans flying Italian, Portuguese, or whatever flags disrespected the country they now call home, for me, i find it a celebration of what Canada is, a land of many many cultures.
I probably wouldn't feel the same if someone planted another country's flag in their front yard, but for sporting events I think it's a nice thing.
