Tornadovideos.net storm chasers Reed Timmer and Joel Taylor shot this INSANE video of a violent tornado from within 50 yards!!! We had to back up at the last second, and my cell phone fell out on the road and was taken away by the tornado! This one was shot May 4, 2007, Ellis Co., OK.

That is both beautiful and terrifying at the same time, for some reason you captured its intensity far better than anything i've seen on TV...

Wow Reed! Must be hard to get insurance when people catch "wind" of what you do for a living! Amazing video. I can hear the adrenalin rush in your voice.

The only encounter I've had with a tornado was when I was driving up to Jasper, Alberta from Edmonton sometime in the late 1980s. There came a point when the weather got so bad we couldn't see the cars in front of us, so everyone stopped, which is also a bit dangerous. By the time we got to Jasper and turned on the TV, we learned a twister had passed through Edmonton, killing some people in a trailer park.

Can't say as I would have wanted to chase the storm, but it was still slightly thrilling to see nature's power.
