I don’t know why Chef Ramsay had it out for me. I just don’t think we got along from Day One. His and my personality just didn’t mix. I’m a little bit stubborn; I didn’t kiss his ass like most people did. I need to hear a reason I’m doing stuff wrong, and I didn’t feel he gave me enough reasons for why he was so hard on me.
Why Sign Up For Hell?
I was in the electrical field for about a year and a half and a former Executive Chef for six or seven years. I kind of got dared to do Hell’s Kitchen. The ladies in the office said, “Hey Ben, you were a good chef, you’ve got a good personality – you need to try out.”
I thought, ‘No, I’ll never make it,’ but I went on my lunch break one day and sure enough three weeks later, I’m in LA.
The Nemesis
We were happy to see Matt go to the Red Team because he’s an idiot and nobody liked him. He didn’t offer anything to the team that we could use. Besides his signature dish and him making Chef Ramsay throw up with that weird pizza that he made, he just didn’t give the team any reason to have him stick around.
I’ve been asked the question many times: “Why did he perform better when cooking with the women’s team.” It’s all in the editing, my dear.
I had one bad night and I leave, while Matt screws up five or six weeks in a row, and he stays. He’s still there for 99 per cent dramatic reasons. I was fairly strong and did a lot of good stuff there. He just makes for good TV.

By jaytoday, May 25, 2008 at 00:49Hey Ben, I was rooting for you since the beginning and I still think you should have been the winner. It's Chef Ramsay's loss and there is no way Matt could ever be an executive chef. I hope with the TV exposure, you find some opportunities opening up for you! Keep us updated.

By aftaab, May 15, 2008 at 19:09Hey guy12543, I must have turned off the show as before seeing the clips of the next show. Someone cut's the tip of their finger off? Yuck! Ramsey really had it in for Jen too. I guess he got pissed off with her cockiness from a couple of shows ago when she said that she was the one in control of her destiny - he corrected her back then and has obviously been waiting to take her down a peg or a thousand. Jen on the blue team will be interesting - clashes with the "four star general" coming up?
Do you notice that he always gets a little dig in to his own guy, Jean Pierre?
Matt's on thin ice. With Corey, Rosann left on the red team - he's going home. Christina I really like. She manages to stay on an even keel in spite of her rivalry with Corey.

By guy12543, May 15, 2008 at 16:56Yeah, I got the same feeling. Ramsey just had it in for Ben that night and went after him non-stop for whatever reason, probably because his producers told him to do it. I can't believe that Craig, Jason, and Matt were allowed on for any other reason than they were all bad cooks, sexist and cocky and that made for easy punching bags for Ramsey.
Aftaab, Jen is the one who switches sides, the editors really do a bad job keeping things secrets.
And Matt wants to talk about Karma, how's this: You tell Ramsey that all the dishes suck because you had no input but your team wins anyway without you, then you act as if nothings wrong. You then throw your whole team under the bus and cry to Ramsey that they pick on you at elimination. When you move to the red kitchen, you start talking smack because you get to hide over there now on appetizers (the easiest thing on the menu).
And the next week: you're too clumsy and you cut off your fingertip during prep. THAT'S KARMA!

By aftaab, May 15, 2008 at 12:37I don't think you have to worry about Matt. The red team are probably going to kick him out in the next round. It's either going to be him or Rosann. I don't really think anyone but G.R. knows why Ben got kicked off the team. Obviously Ben got under his skin for some reason. Perhaps he saw what a scheming s.o.b you were. As soon as Matt left to go to the red team, Ben seemed hell bent on getting rid of Louross. Wonder who is going to move over to the blue team from the girl's side?
